The 2010 edition of Greater New Bedford Day was the largest yet, with a crowd estimated at over 800 people. Many first timers were in attendance, including retired teachers Joe Rapoza and Tony Santos. Tony taught for 26 years in Fairhaven, then moved to Florida and just retired after teaching music for another 21 years in the sunshine state. Dick Arieta, former assistant football and basketball coach at FHS attended for the first time, as did Mike Dodge, former track and football coach. The event is organized annually by former New Bedford Mayor Brian Lawler and his wife Johann. There is no admission charge and a cash bar is available inside and outside. The facility is perfect for the large group to roam around and mingle with old friends and classmates. First timers are always amazed at how many people they know in the huge crowd. This year a number of people traveled across the state from central and east Florida after hearing about the event. See some other photos in the Photo Gallery.
