Tuesday, March 13, 2012 is the date of the annual Greater New Bedford Reunion at the Shell Factory on Route 41 in Fort Myers, Florida. The gathering always attracts a large number of FHS alums and Fairhaven residents who are retired in Florida or spending some of the winter months there.
Last year we met up with several retired FHS teachers who hadn’t seen each other in years. Pictured in the photo are (L-R): Wayne Wilson, Donald J.B. Dufour, Joe Rapoza and Tony Santos. If you’re in Florida on March 13th you’ll be amazed at the number of friends and acquaintances you’ll run into. Organized by former New Bedford Mayor Brian Lawler, the event attracts more and more people each year. He estimated that last year there were 800-900 in attendance. The event is scheduled from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. and the Shell Factory is the perfect location to accommodate such a large group and it’s easy to find. From Interstate 75 you take Exit 143 and follow the signs to the Shell Factory which is on Route 41 (Tamiami Trail).
