The Light-a-Light drive is the only fundraiser conducted by the FHS Alumni Association each year. Started in 1985, the drive is featured in the annual Alumni issue of THE ADVOCATE which is mailed to the homes of close to 6000 alumni across the nation in early November.
If you are an alumnus, or FHS supporter, and did not receive a copy in the mail last November, then we don’t have your current address in our data base. Simply e-mail us at and we will include you.
For every $10 that is donated to the FHS Alumni, a light is lit on our beautiful 25 foot COLORADO SPRUCE TREE that is located on the west side of the high school near Main Street. The tree remains lighted throughout the holiday season, and has become a symbol of the loyal support that Fairhaven High School receives from its alumni base. The monies received are used to support various restoration projects, scholarships and other projects undertaken by the FHS Alumni Association throughout the year.
Over the past 24 years we have received over $273,000 in donations which has enabled us to accomplish a large number of projects and provide scholarships to deserving seniors at graduation in June. In the past two years we have provided Fairhaven High School with $11,000 to purchase 30 computers to outfit a new classroom computer lab that was utilized for more than 500 class periods the first year, $10,700 in Mini-Grants to teachers for resources and materials that will enhance classroom instruction, as well as $5,000 for a new Peer Mediation program that provided students with training in conflict resolution skills to help resolve problems among the fellow students.
Your tax deductible donation can be made in one of two ways - online or via conventional mail.
Light-A-Light donations are accepted right through Paypal, at any time of year. A minimum donation of $10 is suggested.
We accept donations at any time of the year, and they can be mailed to:
