Homecoming Weekend has become a highly anticipated tradition that remains very popular among FHS alumni, townspeople and people from all over southern Massachusetts.
The next Homecoming Weekend will be June 26 – 28, 2009. On Friday evening, June 26 the FHS Alumni Association will sponsor the 4th annual “Evening of Taste” at Fairhaven High School from 5:00 – 6:30 P.M. On this very special evening as many as twenty local restaurants and businesses set up food stations through the hall ways of the main building and in the Library / Media Center, formerly the round gymnasium. Alumni, townspeople and friends are invited to come and sample the tasty offerings of these very generous businesses and to wander through the building reminiscing with old friends and classmates. Class reunions are very often held on this weekend and the “Evening of Taste” has become a meeting place for many of the classes as they kick off their reunion weekend. There is no admission charge, but donations are encouraged to help us defray the cost of hosting the event.
On Saturday, June 27th, 2009 the 34th annual Homecoming Fair will be held in the Fairhaven town center. There are a wide variety of high quality vendors, artists and food stands that attracts a huge crowd of people from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. If you are a graduate of Fairhaven High School, it is impossible to walk very far down Center Street without running into classmates or acquaintances that you haven’t seen in years. The Alumni Association always operates a booth on Center Street directly in front of the Millicent Library, and sells a number of FHS related items. Many of these items (DVD’s, watches, etc.) can also be purchased on this website by clicking on “merchandise”.
On Sunday morning, June 28th, 2009 the annual All-Class Breakfast is held in the FHS cafeteria from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. and is catered by the Courtyard Restaurant. Each year the breakfast is organized by the class celebrating its 50th reunion, so this year the Class of 1959 will be hosting the event in cooperation with the FHS Alumni Association. On Sunday evening the annual Fairhaven High School Hall of Fame banquet is held at the Century House on South Main Street in Acushnet, where the newest inductees to the Hall of Fame are presented and honored.
Fairhaven’s summer celebration is a huge event for the FHS Alumni Association.
